NEW EP and a Canadian Tour!

We sleep in 19th century mansions. This one was originally built by William Renwick in 1867 during the Great Lumber Boom. And speaking of Lumber Booms...actually, never mind.

In the fullness of time the snow melted away, somewhat ealier than most of us expected, and then it snowed again. Which didn't surprise us much. And President Mubarak said,"Ye shall stop demanding things that undercut my sense of total control. I am not going anywhere!" He then left the country. And the govenor of Wisconsin declared, "Ye shall not collectively bargain. We have a budget crisis don't ya know?" We felt creatively confident and then questioned ourselves greatly and then worked to hold eachother up with humor and sincerity. And then this very moment. Back in the Davenport studio of our friend Pat. Jesse warming up, the drum part on the tune for today is rather difficult, and Jason adjusting the intonation on the baritone guitar. And me attempting to write something clever and starting way to many sentences with the word 'and'. And I guess that's it for now.

Pat Stolley mans the nobs and the sound wires. Who can follow that rat's nest?
Somehow the electronic wizardry is working in our favor.
Oh, and for those of you who are into recording gear, here are some shots of Pat workin' the nobs. I can't tell you what any of it is, but it makes things sound nice.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas friends.

Just a quick note to you from the studio. It is day three, and so far the songs sound great. We've been pretty well recording a song a day thus far. As I said in the last post, we're getting to work with our friend Pat at his studio in Davenport and to wrap all our songs in his amazing analog gear. I'm not a huge audiophile by any means, but I have to say, the warmth you can get from tape is beautiful. Also, all the gear looks super cool and makes you feel like you're Bob Dylan or something. When and if I ever make any money in my life, I wouldn't mind filling a room with all kinds of sweet musical stuff. It's inspiring.
Alright, Jason's just about to start tracking an electric guitar part on a song called The Animal of Choice, so I will leave you.
Recording is great and exciting.
I'll talk to you soon.

Hello Friends,
I hope this note finds you well. I am writing to you from very snowy/wintery/cold Wisconsin. I wanted to update you on the last few months and our plan for the next few. Today was to be our departure date for sunny, Davenport, IA, where we're are about to begin the first recording session for our new album. However, due to the gobs and gobs of snow, coupled with the "make your body, and probably your car, shut down real fast" temperatures we had to delay our trip until tomorrow morning. We are hoping that the ice and snow that seems to cover every road in Wisconsin and Iowa will be a bit more under control come tomorrow. We are enormously excited to get this recording underway with the help of our friend Pat Stolley down at Future Apple Tree Studios in Davenport, IA. The arranging and writing for the record has been our sole focus since getting back from Europe at the beginning of October. With the addition of the recording sessions, that will continue to be our main focus into the early new year, meaning, not too many shows. We do have one show Scheduled with our friends S. Carey at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis on January 14th which should be really great. Also, I (jon) will be opening up solo for our friends Laarks and Zoo Animal at the 7th Street Entry on December 27th. Please know that you are heartily encouraged to come join us for those nights of music. Alright. I think that is about it. We will try to post, complete with sweet instudio photos, with some regularity to keep you up to date on the recording process. So please check back with the blog now and again. Sincerely, jon
